MONTE EUGENE THARP

The death Tuesday afternoon of 32-year-old Monte Eugene Tharp of 633 Reber Ave.. has been ruled a suicide by County Medical Examiner Dr. Paul O'Keefe.

Dr. O'Keefe said Mr. Tharp died about 3:30 p.m. of a self inflicted gunshot wound to his chest. Tharp's pajama-clad body was found lying on a bed in his bedroom. A double-barrel .12 gauge shotgun was found neaby, Dr. O'Keefe said.
Mr. Tharp has donated his body to the University of Iowa Medical Center. Friends who wish may give memorials to the Center in his name.

He was born May 17, 1941, in Waterloo, the son of Carl and Hannah Bullard Tharp. He attended East High School and served three years in the Marine Corps.
