Saturday. At 2:00 o’clock Thursday morning Miss Jane McMahan, aged 24 years, passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. Michael Galvin, 228 Dane street, after suffering from an illness extending over a period of about four years. She had underwent operations for ailments which in their effect had weakened the heart, and for the past two weeks had been confined to her bed. Heart trouble was ascribed as the direct cause of death.
The sad news of the death of this beautiful young woman was received with surprise by her many warm friends and acquaintances in the city. Those who knew of her serious illness were not surprised. Her relatives, as well as all associated with her in life, loved her for her many beautiful traits of character. Of great strength of will and purpose, she was wonderfully gentle and sweet in disposition. Everybody loved her who learned to know her and all admired her for her womanliness and the beautiful example of her daily life. She was a woman whose character was a positive value to the world and her loss is not to her family and friends alone. But her influence will still live among those who experienced the pleasure of her acquaintance, and will be an influence for good until greetings are exchanged in the light of a new day.

Miss Jane McMahon was born in County Clare, Ireland, in May 1885. She came to this country and has been living with her sister for the past six years. Left to mourn her death are two sisters, Mrs. M. Galvin of this city and Mrs. John Cahill, Chicago; also a brother, John McMahon, of Kansas City. Both sisters were present at the time of her death and the brother is expected to arrive in Waterloo tonight. The parents of the deceased live in Ireland.
The funeral will be held Saturday morning from St. Joseph’s Catholic church, of which deceased was a member and interment will probably be in Calvary.
