CEDAR FALLS - Kenneth H. Herbsleb, 92, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at Windsor Nursing & Rehab Center, Cedar Falls.

He was born Jan. 17, 1914, in Waterloo, son of Henry and Ella Roberts Herbsleb. He married Carolyn Crane Aug. 2, 1936, in Cedar Rapids. She preceded him in death Aug. 2, 1991. He married Evelyn Potts March 22, 1996, in Cedar Rapids.

He served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theater of operations during World War II. He was a meter repairman for 13 years with Cedar Falls Utilities, was a ranger for five years at the Boy Scouts Camp Ingawanis near Waverly, and was a custodian at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1972. He was past commander of Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 and was past department chaplain.

Survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Raymond (Kathleen) of Cedar Rapids and Gordon (Patsy) of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Caroline (Steve) Bertrand of Ionia; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Alfred of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Carolyn; an infant daughter, Carol Ann; a brother, Harry; and three sisters: Margaret Petersen, Henrietta Homan and Cylinda King.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where military rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Inurnment will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

A memorial fund will be established.
