Harry E. Johnson, 64, of 1425 Burton Avenue, died at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday at Schoitz Memorial Hospital following a heart attack suffered earlier in the day.

Mr. Johnson was a member of the Waterloo Police force from 1917 until 1933 when he retired because of ill health. Since that time he had been employed by the Waterloo Water Works.

Born in Jackson County on June 2, 1887, Mr. Johnson was the son of Frank and Hattie Lampher Johnson. He married Loretta Kosnopfal in 1907 in Maquoketa. The couple moved to Waterloo where Mr. Johnson was employed by the Iowa Dairy Separator Company until 1917. He was a member of the Iowa State Police Association.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Cecil Taber of Evansdale; one sister, Mrs. Al Mulvey of Chicago; one brother, Arch L. Johnson of 110 ½ East Fourth Street; one granddaughter and one grandson.

His parents and two daughters preceded him in death.

The body is at O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home where funeral arrangements are tentatively set for Saturday.
