WATERLOO — Leslie L. “Les” Johnson, 83, of Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at his stepdaughter’s home in Las Vegas.

He was born Jan. 2, 1930, in Buffalo, Mo., son of Joseph and Minnie Rose Johnson. He married Coleen Ellsworth in 1988 in Waterloo.

Mr. Johnson was educated in Osceola, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving during the Korean War. He was employed as a core setter in the foundry at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works from 1955 to 1992, when he retired.

Survived by his wife; three sons: Wayne (Joyce) of Evansdale, and Brian and Michael (Tami), both of Waterloo; a daughter, Joni (Jay) Decker of Jefferson, Texas; three stepdaughters: Leslie Sue O’Brien of Las Vegas, LaRae Burkman of Brandon, S.D., and Linda (Al) Weisser of Sioux Falls; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur (Vicki) of Osceola; and two sisters, Doris Oakley and Norma Warner, both of Des Moines.

Preceded in death by a brother, Roy; and two sisters, Lucy Johnson and Vera McDougal.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
