Dorothy V. Smith, 86, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Monday, September 15, 2003, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls.

She was born July 9, 1917 in Plainfield, Iowa, the daughter of Roland and Jessie (Richards) Shadbolt. Dorothy attended Horton Country School near Horton, Iowa.

She married Carl L. Smith on July 13, 1941 in Parkersburg, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1964. Dorothy was a cook for 25 years in the Dietary Department at Sartori Memorial Hospital and was a member of First Baptist Church in Cedar Falls.

She is survived by her two daughters, Norma (Vagn) Pedersen of Cedar Falls and Nancy (Joe) Johnson of Charles City, Iowa; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Stufflebeam of Orlando, Florida.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband and parents; a sister, Charlette Richmond; and two brothers, Donald and Raymond Shadbolt.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2003, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
