GILL, BEENER, BACKEN, CLOSSON

Ill for five years and bedfast for about two years, James E. Gill, 127 Hogle Street, died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday [Mar. 8] at St. Francis Hospital of heart disease. He was 54 years old.

Born October 5, 1884, at Vermont, Illinois. James E. Gill was the son of John and Elizabeth Gill. He came to Waterloo from Ottumwa, Iowa 32 years ago and had been employed in the Rath Packing company plant until five years ago when he became ill.

Mr. Gill married Alice Beener in Waterloo February 5, 1916.

Surviving are the widow; eight daughters, Mrs. O. G. Backen, 923 Oneida Street; Mrs. M. G. Closson, 127 Hogle Street and Helen, Marjorie, Delores, Betty, Eleanor and Marlene all at home, and two sons, Robert and Jack at home.

The body was taken to the Kearns Garden Chapel and will be removed to the Gill home at p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday at St. John's Catholic Church by Rev. N. J. Lentz, pastor, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The body will be at the home of Mr. Gill's daughter, Mrs. Mr. G. Closson, 127 Hogle Street, from 4 p.m. Thursday until time of service.
