CEDAR FALLS, IOWA — Paul R. Hurd, 67, of Kingman, Arizona, and formerly of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Joan & Diana Hospice House, Kingman, of cancer.

He was born November 2, 1945, in Rapid City, South Dakota, the son of Robert and Anna Hurd. He married Marilyn Lang Smith on July 14, 1983.

Mr. Hurd graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1964. He worked as a draftsman for what was originally known as Brice & Petrides of Waterloo for 34 years before retiring to Arizona. All the while working as an entrepreneur on several projects.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Heather Hurd of Waverly; a stepdaughter, Kim (Tom) Kirk of Kingman; a stepson, Jeremy Smith of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Kathi Jennings (Warren) of Cedar Falls and Peggy Galligan (Tim) of Hudson, Ohio.

Private services: were held by the family at the hospice house. Sutton Funeral Chapel, Kingman, was in charge of cremation.
