CRANDALL, SMITH, DUTILE, FAULKNER

WATERLOO — Daniel W. “Panhead” Crandall, 59, of Waterloo, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died at home Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, of cancer.

Daniel Wayne Crandall was born Sept. 10, 1953, at Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Chicago, son of Fred and Carolyn Smith Crandall. He married Denise Dutile in Lewiston, Maine; they later divorced. He married Sue Faulkner in Cedar Rapids, and they later divorced.

Mr. Crandall enlisted in the U.S. Navy Aviation and served with Patrol Squadron Forty-Four, 1971-1975. He was a machinist in Cedar Rapids; he retired in 1991 due to health problems. He was a former member of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club, Iowa Chapter.

Survived by a son, Harley (Lauren) of San Francisco; a grandson, Marcel, of San Francisco; a sister, Diane of Florida; three brothers, Rod of Pennsylvania, Ron of Ohio and Bart of Arizona; and his longtime girlfriend, Caroline “Carnie” Holschalge of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life service: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, with military honors. There will be no visitation; his body has been cremated.

Memorials may be directed to the family or to his benefit on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. at The Screamin’ Eagle in Waterloo.
