WATERLOO, IOWA — Sandra Kay "Sandy" Galle, 64, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Allen Hospital following a lengthy illness.

She was born Oct. 25, 1948, in New Hampton, daughter of Clarence and Doris Winklemann Derifield. She married Ronald "Ron" Galle on Nov. 3, 1979, in Waterloo.

She had been a bartender at Big Carl’s Place and a cook at Mama Nick’s and also at Big Bill’s in Evansdale.

Survived by her husband; a son, Donnie Lee Shea of Waterloo; two daughters, Shelley (Bill) Murphy of Waterloo and Jennifer (Chris Ricketts) Bartels of Janesville; a son-in-law, Earl Sanderson of Waterloo; eight grandchildren, Allison, Ethan, Ashley, Christy, Katie, Bud, Nicholas and Alex; 14 great-grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers, Patrick (Evelyn) Derifield and Jerry (Diane) Derifield, both of Waterloo; and three sisters: Pam Truax and Roxanne Day, both of Cedar Falls, and Joan (Dale) Tracy of Waterville.

Preceded in death by her parents; a great-granddaughter, Nevaeh; two brothers, Dennis and Eddy Derifield; and dog Bully.

Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Heartland Vineyard Church, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.
