WATERLOO — Robert W. Schreiber, 74, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of cancer.

He was born Feb. 15, 1938, in Jubilee, son of Kenneth Franklin and Margaret Hilda Dage Schreiber. He married Melva Miller on Aug. 1, 1959, in Waterloo.

Mr. Schreiber was a machinist at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, past president of the Waterloo Fraternal Order of Eagle’s 764 and was in the state Hall of Fame for the Eagle’s.

Survived by his wife; four sons: James R. (Melissa) of Marion, Tim A. (Cindy) of Waterloo, Don J. (Annette) of Patterson and Darrin L. of Waterloo; two brothers, Keith (Judy) of Marion and George (Carol) of Wainwright, Okla.; a sister, Mary Ann Cooney of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Richard; and a sister, Donna Schreiber.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, with inurnment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, and also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
