[Waterloo Evening Courier, Saturday, May 31, 1919]

Funeral services of Reuben McKitrick, former head of the economic department of the college, will take place from the home on Iowa street Sunday at 1:15 p.m., in charge of his pastor, Rev. Eugene Allen, and at the Methodist church at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Fairview.

Six months ago, Prof. McKitrick suffered an attack of influenza and soon thereafter was forced to give up his position on the faculty, being granted a leave of absence. He gradually grew worse until shortly before noon Thursday death resulted from tuberculosis of the throat. He was 37 years old.

Surviving are his widow, three daughters, Lois, Marian and Helen, one son, Roger; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. S.J. McKitrick, and one sister, Clara, a teacher in the Waterloo schools.

Mr. McKitrick attended rural schools in Nebraska, graduated from the high school at Diller, that state, State Normal school, Alva, Okla., University of Oklahoma, and from the state university at Madison, Wis. He became associated with the faculty of the college in this city in 1910 and three years later, on account of his ability and his excellent methods of dealing with economic problems which arose in the classroom in this particular subject, the state board of education promoted him to be head of the department. He was a popular instructor and his department was always filled with students, who were anxious to be in his classes because they realized that he was an unusual instructor.
