James H. Calkins Died
Last Evening at Advance
Age of 77 years

At the home of his daughter, 412 Bratnober Street, at 7:30 o'clock last evening, J.H. Calkins, an aged resident passed away from earth, the immediate cause of death being intestinal cancer.

Deceased was born May 22, 1823, in New York state. He came to Waterloo from Tama county three years ago and for the past year made his home with his daughter, being taken sick about that time.

Five children survive him, J.D. Calkins, C.D. Calkins, Mrs. Scoville, residing in this city, Mrs. Tilton of Traer, and John J. Calkins of Council Bluffs. All are here excepting the latter.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the residence. Rev. T.M. Evans, of Grace church officiating.
