Mrs. George B. Birdsall, one of the well known and highly respected residents of East Waterloo, died at 4 o'clock this morning at the home on East Fifth street. The cause of her death was Bright's disease from which she had been a patient sufferer for several months.

The deceased was born in Sherbrooke, Canada, Jan. 12, 1841. Her maiden name was Anna McCaffrey. She grew to young womanhood in her native town and in the year 1868 came to Iowa, and taught school for several terms in Lester township in this county and also in Jefferson township in Bremer county.

While she was engaged in the occupation of a teacher, she met George B. Birdsall. The acquaintance ripened into love and the twain were wed in September, 1870. The couple at once went to housekeeping on a farm in East Waterloo township, which Mr. Birdsall still owns. A few months ago they moved to Waterloo, where their three children are residing. The children are W.N. Birdsall, who was the democratic candidate for congress in this district last fall, and two daugthers, Miss Mary and Miss Alice Birdsall.

The funeral services for the deceased will be held from the home at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon conducted by Rev. H.G. Beaman of the Walnut Street Baptist curch, and the interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. The grief stricken children and the bereft husband have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their loss of a fond and loving mother and wife.
