Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Chapel of Memories for Walter Zerkle, 76, of 227 Reed St., who died Friday at 12:20 a.m. at Allen Memorial Hospital of arterial sclerosis. The Rev. Harold Sparks, pastor of St. Paul's Methodist church will officiate, and burial will be in the Garden of Memories.

Mr. Zerkle was born Nov. 27, 1883, at Gridley, Kan., the son of Abraham and Clarissa Woodward Zerkle. He married Mae Murray May 27, 1905, in Des Moines. He was a resident of Waterloo for 60 years, and was employed as a truck foreman with the Waterloo Cedar Falls and Northern railroad for 50 years until retiring in 1957.

He is survived by his wife, a daugther, Mrs. T.A. Robinson, 227 Reed St.,; two brothers, Fred, of Long Beach, Calif., and R.B. Zerkle, Englewood, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Anna Williams, 556 Archer St., two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, a daughter, and five brothers preceded him in death.
