CHRIST WELTER

Christ (Chris) Welter, many years a farmer near Raymond, la., died Thursday at about 5 a. m. in the Iowa state tuberculosis sanatorium. Oakdale, from tuberculosis and complications. Fifty-seven years old, he had been a patient at the sanatorium since June, 1939.

Mrs. Welter has made her home, at 510 Courtland Street, since the first of the year.

Born March 1, 1885, at Gilbertville, la., he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Welter. He married Miss Lena Chuler at Gilbertville about 36 years ago. They had farmed since on the same site. Mr. Welter was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church at Raymond.

Surviving in addition to the widow are three sons, Melvin J., and Robert M., both at home, and John J., 135 Joder Avenue; six daughters: Miss Evelyn A. and Miss Geneva C. Welter, both at home; Mrs. Albert Kayser, Independence, la.; Mrs. Robert Peverill, Fairbank, la.; Mrs. Paul Crummer, La Porte City, la. and Mrs. Ray L. Courter, 2160 Lafayette Street; a sister, Mrs. Joseph Tarkett, 1226 Lafayette street, and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, one brother, two sisters, and two grandchildren.

The body was taken to O'Keefe Towne Funeral Home.

CHRIST WELTER.

Requiem mass for Christ Welter, former Raymond, la., farmer, who died Thursday in the Iowa state tuberculosis sanatorium, Oakdale, will be said Saturday at 9:30 a. m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, at Raymond, by Rev. Louis Putz, pastor. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Raymond.

The body was taken from O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home Friday morning to the residence, 510 Cortland Street, where it will remain until the, time of service.

Mr. Welter was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

Saturday Miss Marian Louise Sperle, daughter of George Sperle, of Oran, la., and of Mrs. Gladys Lammers, 614 Washington Street, became the bride of Melvin Welter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Welter, 510 Cortland Street.
