Doris E. Horn, 75, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, July 25, 2008, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Center in Cedar Falls. She was born February 7, 1933 in Menlo, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Marie (Lemke) Boss.

Doris married Lloyd C. Horn on July 27, 1952 in Casey Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1980. She married Warren F. Thomas on November 14, 1981 in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2007. Doris graduated from Menlo High School in 1951 and attended business college. She was a secretary for 40 years with Black Hawk Hearing Company, retiring in 1995. Doris also baked cakes for special occasions, such as weddings and birthdays. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls and was a member of the Avon Collectors Club.

Doris is survived by two grandsons, Casey Johnson of Norfolk, Virginia, stationed on the USS Nassau, and Jonathan Johnson of Lamoni, Iowa; a brother, Glenn (Mary) Boss, of Stuart, Iowa; two step sons, John (Eser Tolunay) Thomas of Potomac, Maryland and Daniel Thomas of Wyoming, Michigan; three step daughters, Ruth Bennett of Auburn, Georgia, Carol (Jeff) Potter of Cartersville, Georgia and Donna (Larry) Camarata of Cedar Falls; seven step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands; one son, John Horn, and his wife, Sheri; one daughter, Fyrne Tucker; two brothers, Everett and Gene Boss, and one sister, Marlene Ford.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4-7:00 pm Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
