WATERLOO — David L. Peppler, 75, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Allen Hospital.

He was born Nov. 24, 1937, in Waterloo, son of George and Helen Waggoner Peppler. He married Mavis Hoke on Nov. 21, 1957, in LaMesa, Calif.

Mr. Peppler served in the U.S. Marines Corps in the late 1950s. He was employed at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works as a forklift driver for 17 years, retiring in 1998.

Survived by his wife; a son, Michael of Waterloo; and a daughter, Cindy (Bruce) Skerik of Gilbertville.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Garden View Chapel and for an hour before services Saturday at the church. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138, VFW Post 1623 and the U.S. Marines Corps Honors Detail.

Memorials may be directed to the church, the food bank or Salvation Army.
