CEDAR FALLS — George Onken Jr., 71, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Nashua, died Saturday, Jan. 5, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, following a sudden illness.

He was born May 3, 1941, son of George and Ruby Onken.

Mr. Onken served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He retired from Standard Golf Co., Cedar Falls, after 21 years.

Survived by his wife, Sandra; three sons: Rick (Donita) Onken of New Hartford, John (Deb) Onken of Masonville and Michael Lofquist of Las Vegas; two daughters, Angela (Charles) Conkling of Cedar Falls and Dawn (Mark) Zook of Traer; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janice Hogan of Montclair, Calif., and Denice (Michael) Hosea of Cedar Falls; and a brother, Lester (Connie) of Harpers Ferry.

Preceded in death by a brother, Donald.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at College Hill Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, preceded by an hour of visitation. Iowa Cremation, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family.
