WATERLOO — Lois A. Topliff, 93, of Waterloo, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at NewAldaya Lifescapes, Cedar Falls.

She was born Aug. 19, 1919, in rural Pocahontas County, daughter of Robert and Anna Beneke Wiegert. She was raised by her grandmother after her mother died when she was eight. She married George A. Topliff in 1941 in Waterloo. He died March 3, 1997.

She graduated from Gilmore City High School and from a business school in Chillicothe, Miss. Mrs. Topliff was a secretary at a law firm in Gilmore City.

Survived by three sons: Robert of Waterloo, Paul (Janice) of Alva, Fla., and Jerold (Rhonda) of Elm Grove, Wis.; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and Raymond Wiegert; and a sister, Edna Van Gorkum.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, with burial in Marble Valley Cemetery, both in Gilmore City. Visitation an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
