Services for Charles Casteel French, 48, and his wife, Sharon Kay French, 44, of 5341 Foulk Road, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Epicsopal Parish with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Graveside military rites for Charles French will be conducted by AMVET Post 19.

The couple was killed Tuesday afternoon near Newton, when the motorcycle they were riding and a dump truck collided at the junction of Highways 330 and 65.

Charles French was born Aug. 1, 1935 at McIntire, son of William and Margaret Shupe French. He married Sharon Kay Bowers Oct. 25, 1958, at Waterloo.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1955 and was employed for 22 years by John Deere. He was a life member of AMVET Post 19 and secretary of the Proud Image Barbershop Quartet.

He is survived by four daughters, Ginger Kay French of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Laura, Deborah and Pamela, all at home; his mother, Margaret French of Waterloo; two brothers, Arlan French and Rich French, both of Waterloo; and a sister, Cheryl O'Connor of Cedar Falls.

Sharon French was born May 28, 1940, at Waterloo, daughter of Joseph and Florence Goetsch Bowers.

She is survived by four daughters; her mother, Mrs. Florence Fisher of Waterloo; and two brothers, Jim Bowers of St. Paul, Minn., and Eugene Bowers of Hudson.

The family will receive friends at O'Keefe & Towne-Carter & Waychoff Funeral Home from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to a trust fund for the French daughters.
