OWENS, LIVINGSTON, NETTY, FOLKERS

WATERLOO — Alfred E. Owens, 92, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born Feb.15, 1920, in Waterloo, son of Charles and Edna Livingston Owens. He married Athena Netty on Sept. 2, 1950, in Waterloo. She died Sept. 2, 2004.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Owens and his wife owned and operated the Peppermint Lounge for many years. He also was a pre-arrangement counselor for different area cemeteries. He was a member of the VFW.

Survived by a daughter, Pam Owens (Kenneth) Folkers of Waterloo; and two stepgrandchildren, Kelli and Brian Folkers.

Preceded in death by a brother, William.

Services: 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Full military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623.
