Carl F. Venter, 80, of 2024 E. 4th St., died at 1:14 p.m. yesterday at Allen Memorial Hospital of a coronary.

He was born October 29, 1888, in Waterloo, the son of Christian and Sophia Koepke Venter. He worked for Iowa Public Service for 41 years in the gas department before retiring in 1953.

He married Amanda Meyer on August 17, 1910, in Waterloo. Mr. Venter was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Donald Wenthe, of 530 Sheridan Road; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, a sister, a son, and a daughter.

Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Friends may call at the parrott & Wood Funeral Home after 5 p.m. today.
