CEDAR FALLS — Winifred R. "Winnie" Perkins, 94, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born May 31, 1918, in Waterloo, daughter of Arthur R. and Ruth Garver Thorson. She married Joseph D. Perkins on Aug. 6, 1939, in Preston, Minn. He died Oct. 18, 1976.

She graduated from Waterloo West High School and attended Iowa State Normal School, currently UNI. During World War II, she worked at Rath Packing Co. and John Deere. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Survived by two daughters, Barbara (Charlie) Mims of Waterloo and Nancy Judas of Evansdale; four grandchildren: Gregory (Lisa) Geisler, Daniel (Sue) Geisler, Nicholas (Melissa) Judas and Melissa (Rick) Nelson; five great-grandchildren: Jason Geisler, Travis Geisler, Addison Judas, Cole Judas and Abigail Nelson; and a nephew, Eric (Judy) Thorson of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh A. and Donald E. Thorson; and a daughter in infancy, Geraldine R. Perkins.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Central Christian Church "Disciples Of Christ," with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
