NATHANIEL W. JOHNSON

Ill just six days. Nathaniel W. Johnson, 1225 Logan avenue, retired Illinois Central railroad toolmaker, died from a heart ailment in his home at 7 p. m. Thursday. He was 78 years old.

Born in Paris, Ontario, July 17, 1862, he was a son of Harry and Charlotte Johnson. Following the
death of his father, about 1884, he moved to Chicago with his mother, beginning service there with Illinois Central as a toolmaker.

Previous to his marriage Nov. 12, 1893. to Mary L. Klinefelter in Waterloo, he farmed with a brother, Harry Johnson, at Tracy, Minn.

In 1894 he re-entered the I. C. employ as a roundhouse machinist, later serving as a toolroom foreman and toolmaker. He retired in 1927 at the age of 65. A member of Waterloo Masonic branches for over 40 years, Johnson is past master of Martin lodge, 624. A. F. & A. M.; past
high priest of Tabernacle chapter 52, R. A. M.; a member of Crescent council 16. R. & S. M., and Ascalon commandery 25. K. T.

Surviving are the widow; a son, Harry L. Johnson, 1727 Forest Avenue; four daughters, Mrs. E. B.
Fowler of Des Monies, Mrs. David Lawler of De Kalb, Illinois; Mrs. L. C. Taylor of Eddyville, Iowa, and Mrs. Irvin Ploog of Redding. California; seven grandchildren.

Four brothers are dead.

The body was taken to O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home.
