Funeral services for Gerald W. Cunningham, 55, of 2215 Easley St. who died at 11 p.m. Friday at Schoitz Memorial Hospital of a heart attack will occur at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Friends may call at Kearns-Dykeman Chapel after 2 p.m. Sunday. Those who wish may contribute to the memorial fun of the church in his name. He had suffered an earlier attack while attending a wrestling meet at West High.

Mr. Cunningham was born in Marshalltown on November 14, 1913, the son of Fred A. and Vallie Evans Cunningham. He had resided in Waterloo since 1916. He graduated from East High School in 1931. While a junior in high school he began his work in the abstract business, being employed by the American Abstract and Tile Co. From 1931 until 1955, he was employed by the Black Hawk County Abstract Co., and he became president of the company, serving in that capicity until his death.

He was a member of the Air Force serving in the European Theatre and was released with the rank of Captain in 1945.

He married Kay Miller on January 22, 1943, in Harriaburg, PA. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and was an elder there. He also served as chairman of the Board of Trustees and as president of the Deacons. He was a member of the Waterloo Kiwanis Club, serving in many capacities and as its president in 1958. He served as clerk of the district court from 1952 to 1954, chairman of the Board of Adjustment, president of the Waterloo Business District, Inc., and on the board of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Board of Realtors.

Mr. Cunningham was a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission, a comissioner of the Veterans Relief Commission, secretary of the Mayors Business District Committee, chairman of the Mayors Committee of Fire Starions Bond Issues, member of the Mayors Committee on Railroad Relocation, board of the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, commissioner and board member of the Sunset District of Boy Scouts, board member of Santa's Workshop, board of First Federal Savings and Loan of Waterloo and board of the Gladbrook Lake and Park Holding Co.

In his profession, he had served as president of the Iowa Land Title Association and as a member of the board, and as chairman of the committee on cooperation of the association. He was a member of the board of governors of the American Land Title Association and had served as chairman of many committees.

Surviving are his widow, three sons: Robert of San Jose, California, Gregg A. of the University of Dubuque and Scot, at home; one sister, Mrs. Ray DeBerg of 1806 Country Lane and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister in infancy.
