CEDAR FALLS — Mary J. Vaughan, 58, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

She was born Dec. 1, 1954, in Quincy, Ill., daughter of Thomas J. and Pauline G. Waddill Farris. She married Gordon Martin Vaughan on Aug. 1, 1980, in Waterloo.

Mrs. Vaughan graduated from Reinbeck Community High School and later from Hawkeye Institute of Technology with a nurse’s aide/orderly degree and also a degree in business clerical. She was a homemaker.

Survived by her husband; two sons, Brent (Nedra) of Holland and Jacob of Cedar Falls; a daughter who had been given up for adoption; and two sisters, Cynthia A. (Steven) Gerhard of Grundy Center and Angela K. (Mark) Bishop of Urbandale.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Steven Ray Farris.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Heartland Vineyard Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Reinbeck Cemetery, Reinbeck, at a later date. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, and for an hour before services on Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Mary loved her family and her Lord and Savior. Raising her two sons was the joy of her life. Her thoughts and prayers were also with her daughter, born Aug. 3, 1975, in Waterloo, who she had given up in a closed adoption. She had a devotion to prayer and was a prayer warrior and prayed for many people and intentions.
