Philip B. Moore, 89, of Waterloo, died of natural causes on Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. He was born April 26, 1919 in Mt. Ayr, Iowa, the son of Arlo N. and Gladys (Barlow) Moore. Phil was united in marriage to Mary E. Smith on May 11, 1949 at Lourdes, Iowa. He was a 1937 graduate of Mt. Ayr High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College (UNI). Phil served with the US Army Air Corps during WW II and was a farmer and cattleman near Hudson, Iowa for many years. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls and Dike American Legion Post 471.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Waterloo; four daughters, Maureen (Jim) Green of Columbia, Missouri, Kathryn Limes of London, Ohio, Janean (Kevin) Kolbet of Osage, Iowa and Patricia Bardole of Round Rock, Texas; a son, Robert P. (Elaine) Moore, of Hudson; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild; and three sisters, Joan Plaehn of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Jane Mochal of Crystal Lake, Illinois and Marilyn Plaehn of Cedar Falls.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sue Hogshead.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Thursday, May 15, 2008, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waterloo. Military honors will be conducted by Dike American Legion Post 471. Visitation will be 4—7:00 pm Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where a Vigil Service will be conducted at 7:00 pm. Visitation also one hour before service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church, Cedar Valley Hospice or The Alzheimer’s Association.
