CEDAR FALLS - Muriel I. Stephens, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, April 7, at Western Home Communities, Elizabeth E. Martin Health Care Center.

She was born June 4, 1920, in Black Hawk County, daughter of Harry and Anna Nelson Jorgensen. She married James W. Stephens on Aug. 31, 1940, at Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died Feb. 2, 1991.

Mrs. Stephens was a graduate of New Hartford High School, New Hartford, and had worked at Hughes Dry Goods Store on College Hill for many years.

Survived by two sisters, Mildred Reuter of Waterloo and Helen McCarty of Burbank, Calif.; and nieces and nephews, Cheryl (Chuck) Immerzeel of Janesville, Pat (Wayne) Reuter Riddle of Waterloo, Kathy (Dennis) Diltz and Lennie (Angie) McCarty, both of Burbank, Jim Jorgensen of Lake Geneva, Wis., Gary (Mary) Jorgensen of New Hartford and Janet (Ted) Hauser of Des Moines.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Bend Humane Society or Cedar Valley Hospice.
