WATERLOO — Garold V. Cornwell, 85, of Waterloo, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 5, 1927, in Hazleton, son of Ted and Marjorie Latham Cornwell. He married Lois J. Morgan on Sept. 9, 1951, in Fredericksburg.

Mr. Cornwell graduated from Alpha High School, Alpha, and attended Hawkeye Technical Institute, Waterloo. He worked as a welder at Universal Industries, Cedar Falls, for 38 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Hammond Avenue Brethren Church.

Survived by his wife; a brother, John (Janet) Martin of Sharpsburg, Md.; and two sisters, Sally (William) Smith of High Springs, Fla., and Pauline Currie of Cedar Rapids.

Preceded in death by an infant sister, Patty; and two half brothers, John and Howard Cornwell.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Hammond Avenue Brethren Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. The Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
