CEDAR FALLS - Maxine C. Hanson, 85, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

She was born July 2, 1920, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Harold S. and Chrystal V. McKee Anderson. She married Vernon C. Hanson Feb. 14, 1942, in Waterloo. He died Feb. 12, 1960.

She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1938, and in 1940 she graduated from Iowa State Teachers College, now UNI. She taught school in Alexander from 1940 to 1942 and later became a librarian for the command-general staff at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

Survived by a son, Eric V. of Des Moines; and a nephew she raised, Dan L. Hanson of Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel, with inurnment at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services Saturday at the chapel. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
