WATERLOO - Aurene Bisdorf, 87, of Waterloo, died Friday, March 31, 2006, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born May 10, 1918, in Kesley, daughter of John and Elsa Hintzen Schoeneman. She married Edward L. Bisdorf April 7, 1950, in Waterloo. He died April 8, 1995.

She graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1935. She received her teaching certificate from Cornell College and her BA in English from U of I. Mrs. Bisdorf taught English at McKinstry briefly and then for many years at East High, retiring in 1980. She then worked as a substitute teacher and as a volunteer for Alternatives for Women Crisis Pregnancy Center.

Survived by two sons, William E. of Waterloo and Mike of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Nancy Price of Brooksville, Fla., and Janet (Larry) Eimers of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren: Amy (Ron) Dieffenbach, Amanda (Steven) Taylor, Benjamin Eimers, Todd Peglow, Jonathan Eimers, Malia Bisdorf, Tyler Peglow, Luke Eimers, Marin Bisdorf and Joseph Price; three great-grandchildren, Marshall Taylor, Alivia Taylor and Ryker Dieffenbach; and two sisters, Ruth Schoeneman of Waterloo and Adele McDowell of Des Moines.

Preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Anne Peglow; a brother, Eldon Schoeneman; and a sister, Joan Abkes.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, Alternatives for Women or Cedar Valley Hospice.
