Rudolph P. “Rudy” Mohl, 81, of New Hartford, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. He was born June 28, 1926 in Parmelee, South Dakota, the son of Rudolph and Mary (Heinert) Mohl.

Rudy married Marjorie Baker on September 14, 1963 in Preston, Minnesota. She preceded him in death on June 3, 2006. Rudy attended country school in both Nebraska and South Dakota, and served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during WW II. He worked at the John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo, Iowa for 28 years, retiring in 1983. Rudy was a member of the New Hartford Lions Club.

Survivors include three sons: Donald (Donna) Mohl of Missouri, Richard (Cheryl) Gnade of Webster City, Iowa, and Dean Mohl of Cedar Falls, Iowa; three daughters, Sandy (Bill) Dietrick of Sheldon, Iowa, Ginger Edie of Popejoy, Iowa, and Connie (Bob) Fuller of New Hartford, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; three brothers: Raymond (Bonnie) Mohl of Gardena, California, Edward (Billie) Mohl of Oroville, California and Paul (Sharon) Mohl of Box Elder, South Dakota; two sisters, Louella (Ron) Johnson of Spencer, Nebraska and Mary Lou (Wayne) Stolenberg of Omaha, Nebraska; one stepbrother, Marvin Ehly from Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Vicki (Terry) Smith of Cedar Falls.

Rudy was preceded in death by his parents and wife, one daughter, Mary Ann Mohl, one brother, Billy Mohl; two sisters, Helen Schmidt and Clara Miner, and one step sister, Alma Heinert.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2007 at First Christian Church, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Guyer-Bickner American Legion Post 660 from New Hartford. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
