WATERLOO — Roger A. Holt, 58, of Harpers Ferry, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at University of Wisconsin at Madison Hospital of a sudden illness.

He was born Sept. 7, 1954, in Independence, son of William and Dixie Destival Holt. He married Patricia Lynn Clark on Oct. 31, 1973, in Waterloo.

Mr. Holt graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1972 and served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He worked at John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 2004.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Tina (Kurt) Woodman of Waterloo; two grandchildren; his mother of Delhi; and two brothers, Stan (Angie) of Delhi and Marlon (Sharon) of Quasqueton.

Preceded in death by his father.

Memorial services: 1 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, with military rites by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19, Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Iowa National Guard. Visitation canceled tonight, but will be held for an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
