WATERLOO — Agnes Elizabeth Ludwig, 93, of Waterloo, died Friday Dec. 14, 2012, at Friendship Village Pavilion of natural causes.

She was born April 12, 1919, in Le Mars, daughter of James and Elizabeth Ahlers Ryan. She married Herbert F. Ludwig in Le Mars on April 29, 1943.

She graduated from St. Joseph High School. Mrs. Ludwig worked as a secretary for Farm Managers and then at a law firm. She and her husband farmed for more than 40 years in the Eagle Center area until their retirement. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Rosary Society and the Elks Club.

Survived by her husband; a son, Steven (Linda) of Waterloo; four daughters: Anne (Leslie) Ludwig of San Franciso, Calif., Leah (Robert) Ladley of Eustis Fla., Lois (Robert) Snyder of Green Bay, Wis., and Jane (Mark) Martin of Sioux Falls, S.D.; nine grandchildren: Keri (Patrick) Rateliff, Allan (Traci) Ludwig, Elizabeth (Matthew) Kemmetmueller, Christopher Snyder, Ryan Martin, Katherine Martin, Molly Martin, Melanie Ladley and Caroline Ladley; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Ludwig; a brother, James Ryan; and two sisters, Sister Elizabeth Ryan O.S.F. and Eleanor Ryan.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary’s of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Eagle Center. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation will continue an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Friendship Village Pavilion or St. Edward’s Catholic Church.
