WASHBURN – Pauline A. Youngblut, 91, of Washburn, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at home.

She was born July 13, 1921, in Rowley, daughter of Bert Harold and Hazel Melvina Joyce Kress. She married Raymond V. Youngblut on Sept. 9, 1947, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Waterloo. He died July 3, 2009.

She graduated from Quasqueton High School in 1938 and later graduated from Iowa Teacher’s College. Mrs. Youngblut taught in Buchanan County and at Elk Run School. She and her husband also farmed in the Washburn/Gilbertville area for many years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville. She was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters, Cedar Township Farm Bureau Women and was a 4-H leader.

Survived by three sons: Tom of Osage and Bill (Lisa) and Tim, both of Waterloo; two daughters, Julie Youngblut Smith (Doug) of Cedar Rapids and Jan Youngblut of Waterloo; six grandchildren: Brad (Emily) Youngblut, Mike (Erin) Youngblut, Seth (Jodi) Krueger, Tiffany (Shawn) Moses, Eric Smith and Emily Smith; seven great-grandchildren: Lakota and Kiley Moses, Will and Sophia Youngblut, Zachery and Ada Krueger and Christian Youngblut.

Preceded in death by three brothers: Robert, Harold and Lavern Kress; two daughters-in-law, Nancy Youngblut and Cindi Youngblut.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, Waterloo, where there will be a 4 p.m. Catholic Order of Foresters rosary. Visitation will continue an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church, Camp Courageous or Cedar Valley Hospice.
