GILBERTVILLE - Donald J. Rosauer, 78, of Gilbertville, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at home of complications of COPD. He was born Dec. 24, 1928 in New Hampton the son of Leo and Gertrude Schluetter Rosauer.

He married Rita Palmersheim on June 23, 1953 in Elma. Mr. Rosauer was employed as a carpenter with Otto Lentz Youngblut and Prairie Construction retiring in 1993. He was a member of the American Legion Nugent-Demuth Post 714 Catholic Order of Foresters and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army.

Survived by his wife of Gilbertville; five sons: Dennis (Helene) of Urbandale, Gary (Janice) of Gilbertville, Steven of Washburn, Robert (Coleene) of Ft. Myers, FL, and Larry (Vanessa) of La Porte City; five daughters: Julie (Joe) Frost of Gilbertville, Patricia (Randy) Ragsdale of Reinbeck, Teresa (Brent) Buszka of Iowa City, Annette (Brad) Stierwalt of Pleasantville, and Angela (Stan) Hemesath of Waterloo; one son-in-law, Jim Pratt of Cedar Falls; 27 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four brothers: Henry Bud of Charles City, Richard of Independence, Kenny (Mary Ann) of New Richmond, WI, and Duane (Jackie) of Baldwin, WI one sister, Jane Rosauer of New Richmond WI.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Pratt and a granddaughter, Katie Jo Rosauer.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial in St. Marys cemetery both in Gilbertville. Full military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Nugent-Demuth Post 714. Public visitation from 4-8 p.m. at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials may be made to the family with a beneficiary to be determined at a later date.
