KUSSATZ, SIMONS, KIES, CAIN, BIBB, PIERCE, KUENNEN, BRESSEN, MCNAMARA

Hazel B. Kussatz, 93, of Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, formerly of 1820 E. Ridgeway, Waterloo, died Sun. Feb. 25, 2007, at Ravenwood of congestive heart failure.

She was born Nov. 21, 1913 in Waterloo, the daughter of Thomas Henry and Josephine Rose Kies Simons.

She married Elmer Kussatz on May 20, 1940 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died in Feb. 1965.

Ms. Kussatz was a cafe owner in Allison. She was employed at Freds Super value in Waverly and Arnolds Clothing in Waterloo. She was also employed with Senior Companion for 25 years.

Survived by three sons: Kent (Evon) of Lincoln, NE, Larry of Urbandale and Roger (Joan) of Parkersburg; two daughters, Monica (Gene) Cain and Karen (David) Bibb-Pierce all of Waterloo; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joann Kuennen of Waterloo and Arlene (Jim) Bressen of Placenta, CA; and a brother, Cletus (Carmen) Simons of Topeka, KA.

Preceded in death by her parents; six brothers: Donald, Robert, Thomas, Everett, Bill, and Mike Simons; and a sister Dorothy McNamara.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church with burial in Garden of Memories cemetery. Public visitation 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway. Visitation also one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family to designate a charity at a later date.
