BRICKMAN, BENZINE, BROWN, FOSTER

WATERLOO — Ronald Brickman, 65, a resident of the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, formerly of Waterloo, died there Monday, Nov. 26, 2012.

He was born Nov. 23, 1947, in Waterloo, son of Clarence and Helene Benzine Brickman.

He graduated from Sumner High School and attended NIACC. He then served with the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. Mr. Brickman worked for Thermogas in Palo, in construction and as a landscaper in Plano, Texas, and with the U.S. Postal Service in Waterloo and Cedar Falls. Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Marines he founded the Vietnam Veterans United Group.

Survived by his wife, Barbara of Raymond; a son, Bryan (Nicki) of Frisco, Texas; a stepson, Greg Brown of Des Moines; his mother of Sumner; a brother, Jerry (Mary) of Forest City; a sister, Joyce Foster of Sumner; and a grandson, Bo Charles Brickman.

Preceded in death by his father; a stepson, Stacey; and a stepgranddaughter, Whitley Brown.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery, all in Marshalltown. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home, Marshalltown, is assisting the family.
