WATERLOO — Duane L. Krebs, 62, of Waterloo, died at home Friday, Nov. 16, 2012.

He was born July 15, 1950, in La Porte City, son of Leo L. and Luella P. Burger Krebs. He married Connie Pirages on June 19, 1971, in Shell Rock, and they later divorced.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1968, where he placed fourth in state wrestling his junior year and was state champion his senior year. He was inducted into the Iowa High School Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1979. He graduated from United Technical Institute in Milwaukee in September 1969, with a degree in architectural drafting, and later received his associate degree from Hawkeye Community College. Mr. Krebs was a building inspector with the city of Cedar Falls until 1990 and then was a building consultant until retirement.

Survived by two daughters, Cortney (John) Zobel of Cedar Rapids and Cassonda (Jeremiah) Moothart of Waterloo; a son, Collin of Hazleton; and two sisters, Sandra Krebs of Houston and Shirley Elliott of Lincoln, Neb.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, where there will be a 3 p.m. time of sharing.

A memorial fund has been established in his name at Veridian Credit Union.
