WATERLOO — Ella Mae Sweeney, 87, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 24, 1925, in Lansing, daughter of John and Ellen Donahue Manning. She married Cletus J. Sweeney on Oct. 25, 1943, in Lansing.

Mrs. Sweeney retired from Carpenter’s Restaurants in 1984.

Survived by her husband of Bickford Cottage; three sons: Gary of Des Moines and Pat (Katy) and Terry (Sue), both of Waterloo; three daughters: Bonnie (John) Ehle of Princeton, Wis., and Nancy (Mark) Boesen and Jan (Mike) Etringer, both of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, with one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild on the way; and a sister, Peg (Vern) Hingtgen of Dubuque.

Preceded in death by a son, Cletus Jr.; four brothers, Cyril, Bill, Dick and Jerry Manning; a sister, Ann Seeley; and a daughter-in-law, Melanie Sweeney, on Nov. 22, 2012.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, and for an hour services Friday at the church.

Memorials in lieu of flowers, may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
