Russell W. Bowers, 89, of Waterloo died Thursday, January 25, 2007, at Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center. He was born February 27, 1917 in Nettleton, MO, son of Jasper and Carrie Weldon Bowers.

He married Marjory Kunard June 29, 1957, in Kansas City, MO. She died April 9 1995. Russell was a WWII U.S. Army veteran serving in campaigns in Northern France Rhineland Central Europe and Normandy receiving four Bronze Stars. He was employed with Williams Pipe Line for 31 years retiring March 1 1982.

Survivors include a brother-in-law Leo (Gerry) Kunard of Lees Summit, MO; a sister Vivian Misenhelter of Richmond, MO and nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his wife two sisters and three brothers.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Hagarty Waychoff Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway Waterloo with burial in Hudson Cemetery Hudson where full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and Evansdale Amvets Post 31. Public visitation will be for an hour before services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Kimball Ridge Senior Center.

Russell loved gardening and woodworking, and he enjoyed his neighbors and spent many hours with his friends at the Senior Center.
