Joshua George Villazana, 22, of Waterloo died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was born Sept. 21, 1984 in Dinuba CA. the son of George Villazana and Carolina Soria Andrade. Mr. Villazana was employed with Omega Cabinets.

Survived by his father of Dinuba, CA; his mother of Waterloo; a brother Xavier Villazana of Dinuba, CA; a sister Cande Villazana of Dinuba, CA; maternal grandmother Carolina Soria of Dinuba. CA.; paternal grandfather Agapito Villazana of Dinuba, CA.

Preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Elias Soria; paternal grandmother Felipa Villazana.

Funeral services will take place at Dopkins Funeral Chapel with burial in Smith Mountain Cemetery both in Dinuba, CA. Public visitation from 5-8 p.m Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South St Waterloo.

In leiu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Waterloo Man Killed in Interstate Accident

CENTER POINT - A Waterloo man lost his life and another Waterloo man was injured in a one-vehicle accident near here Sunday afternoon.

Joshua G. Villazana, 22, was flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City by helicopter following the accident but died of his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, 21-year-old Mark A. Drahos, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids where he was treated and released, according to hospital officials.

Another passenger, Dylan Sires, 21, of Waterloo, escaped injuries, according to an accident report filed with by the Iowa State Patrol.

The three were returning to Waterloo from Iowa City when the accident happened at about 1:50 p.m. on Interstate 380 in Linn County, state troopers said.

The crash closed down the highway for about half an hour.

Drahos was headed north in a 1996 GMC Yukon when he lost control while trying to change lanes, according to the accident report. The sport utility vehicle went into the median and rolled two or three times.

Drahos and Villazana, who was in the back seat, were thrown from the vehicle, the report states.

Both Drahos and Villazana weren't wearing their seat belts, records state. Sires was wearing his seat belt, authorities said.

Drahos was cited for failure to maintain control and a seat belt violation.

State troopers were assisted at the scene by the Center Point Fire Department.

Villazana is a California native who worked at Omega Cabinets in Waterloo. His mother also lives in Waterloo.

Services will be in Dinuba, Calif., with public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South St. in Waterloo.
