Helen M. Clute, 83, of Clearwater, Florida, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, October 1, 2007, at The Woodside Hospice Center in Clearwater, FL.

She was born March 4, 1924, in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Athan and Martha Jenkins Carras.

She married Vern F. Clute on September 1, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA. He died March 11 2002. She and her husband came to Iowa in 1946 from Pittsburgh. She and Vern worked hand in hand over a span of 40 years in the painting industry owning and operating V. F. Clute Painting Fashion Tone Paint Store and Atlas Painting and Industrial Coatings Inc. She was a member of St. Edwards, a member of the Grand Noble Dame of the Elks Club, member of the Ladies Elks Club, and also volunteered her time and services at St. Edwards.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen (Joan Taylor) Clute of Dunedin, FL and Michael Clute of Waterloo; one daughter Kathleen Clute Dean of Clearwater. FL; four grandchildren: Angela Clute, Christopher Clute, Shawn and Bryson Dean; one sister, Anne (Frank) Chapas of Pittsburgh, PA.

Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and two sisters.

Services will be at 9:30 am Saturday at St. Edwards Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Services on South Street where there will be a vigil services at 7 pm. Friends also may call one hour prior to Services at the church on Saturday.

Memorials may be given to a Hospice center of donors choice.

She never met a stranger and her love and charity knew no bounds.
