MRS SUSAN BURDEN

Dies of Pneumonia at Cedar Falls.
[From Friday's Daily.]

Mrs. Susan Burden died at her home in Cedar Falls yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The cause of her death was pneumonia. She was 70 years of age.

Mrs. Burden was born in the city of Bristol, England, March 18, 1830, and came to America in 1851 with her father settling in New York.

She was married the following year to Wm. Burden and five children came to bless that union. Two of the children died in infancy and one when grown. The two living are Mrs. Marquis Messinger of Cedar Falls and Mrs. P. L. White of Candee, Dakota.

Mrs. Burden with her husband and family moved to Dubuque from New York in 1859 and from there to Waterloo in 1864. She continued to reside here until four years ago when she moved to Cedar Falls.

Mrs. Burden has been a faithful and exemplary Christian during her life, uniting with the Episcopal Church when a child. At the age of 22 she became a member of the Methodist church and remained a member the balance of her life.

Her husband died in Waterloo in 1893. She has one sister living in England.

Funeral services for Mrs. Burden will be held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Messinger, Cedar Falls, 2205 Normal street, Sunday, April 22, at 2 o'clock p. m. Rev. Luce of the Methodist church there will officiate and the remains will be brought to Waterloo and laid beside her husband in Fairview Cemetery.
