WATERLOO — Carol Ann Maurer, 76, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home from complications of ALS.

She was born Sept. 28, 1936, in Waverly, daughter of Ben and Lenora Schilling Meyer. She married Stephen Maurer on May 6, 1956, at St. Paul Lutheran Church Siegel, Tripoli.

Mrs. Maurer was a graduate of Tripoli High School. She worked for Bishops Buffet, Rath Packing Co. and Jens Olsen/Prairie Construction, retiring from there in 1995. She later worked at Hallmark. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ.

Survived by her husband; two daughters, Pamela (Randy) Stacey of Waterloo and Sheila (Frank) Saylor of Cedar Rapids; a son, Stephen Jr. of Spokane, Wash.; two brothers, Richard (Barb) Meyer of Tripoli and Robert (Judy) Meyer of Waverly; five grandchildren, Sarah (Tim) Everett, Matthew Stacey, Stephen (Mandy) Maurer III, Nicole Maurer and Wes Sillman; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at First Congregational Church of Christ, Waterloo, with a luncheon following the service. Visitation an hour before services at the church. A family burial will in Fremont Cemetery, Tripoli.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, or ASL-MDA Support Group, 383 Collins Road NE #101, Cedar Rapids 52402.

Carol was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved fishing, playing bingo and spending winters in Florida.
