Betty Skinner, 83, of Jesup, formerly of Waterloo died Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Allen Memorial Hospital from a heart attack.

Betty was born July 9, 1929 in Ottumwa, Iowa the daughter of Albert and Dorothy Martz Kirwin. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1947.

Betty married Birthel (Gene) Skinner September 8, 1947 in Lancaster, MO. He died May 30, 1990. She was a bus driver for Waterloo Community Schools for 17 years retiring in 1990. She was a member of Teamsters Local 238 while she was a bus driver and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Betty enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Her survivors include a son Virgil Skinner and his wife Vicki of LaCrosse, WI; son Tom Skinner and his wife Sue of Bloomfield, IA; daughter Jeanne Heckenlively of Waterloo; daughter Dorothy Gardner and her husband Dick of Osceola, MO; son Jim Skinner and his wife Pam of Jesup; and daughter Melodee Kerkove and her husband Dennis of Jesup. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter Mary Elizabeth, 2 granddaughters, and a son-in-law.

Services 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Locke Funeral Home. Visitation 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 at Locke Funeral Home. Burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo, Iowa
