Jeffery was my husband's younger brother. The above obituary's have many facts wrong. Jeffery was kidnapped by his father and taken to Iowa where he was left with Mrs. Rowe. His mother tried for years to get him back but the Iowa courts would not honor her Illinois custody papers. His mother and father were not divorced at the time of his death but were divorced later that year. His mother never remarried and died in May of 2012 at the age of 91.

Jeffery's death was not from head injuries. That is what the Army told the family, I suppose it was easier than telling them the gruesome truth. I learned a few years ago from a soldier that was stationed with Jeffery how he died. He did die in a truck explosion but the injuries were far worse than a simple head injury. He did die quickly and did not suffer.
