Helen L. Mennen, 91, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. She was born September 12, 1917 near Aredale, Iowa, the daughter of Ward and Emma (Reedy) Mason.

Helen married Ecko Mennen on June 4, 1939 near Dumont, Iowa. She farmed with her husband for many years near Aredale.

Survivors include her husband, Ecko Mennen, of Waterloo; two daughters, Betty (Gaylen) Brocka of Waterloo and Beverly (Trig) Gamble of Parker, Colorado; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a sister, Frances (Dilman) Stock, of Monroe, Iowa.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harold Mason.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday, January 16, 2009, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with burial at Dumont Cemetery in Dumont, Iowa. Visitation will be 4—6:00 pm Thursday, January 15, and one hour before service, at the funeral home.
