Mary F. Walker, 86, of Friendship Village, died Saturday, November 8, 2003, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. She was born May 31, 1917 in Hindman, Kentucky, the daughter of Robert Lee and Leanna (Combs) Pigman.

She married Howard Walker on July 6, 1948 in Berea, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1992. Mary received her nurse’s training at West Baltimore, Maryland General Hospital. She was a registered nurse for 19 years at Pontiac General Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan and at a hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan for several years, retiring in 1980.

Mary is survived by two sons, Gary L. (Debra) Walker of Huber Heights, Ohio and Kenneth L. (Karen) Walker of Auburn Hills, Michigan; two daughters, Gail W. (George) Farber of Waterloo, Iowa and Cheryl A. (James) Chrisman of Plainfield, Indiana; four grandchildren, Christopher Lee (Marilu) Walker, M. Adam (Alison) Walker, Heather (Chad) Funderburg and B. Gwen Farber; four great-grandchildren, Kira and Kelsey Funderburg, and Colin and Benjamin Walker; and a sister, Oma Holt of Berea, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; a brother, Roland Pigman; and four sisters: Betty Jean Pigman, Annice Reynolds, Alta Pigman and Edna Taylor.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 2003, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home, with interment at Berea Cemetery, both in Berea, Kentucky.
